William McClearn Obituary

William E. “Fred” McClearn, 89 of Stoneboro, passed away on February 27, 2021 at Quality Life Services – Mercer. Fred was born on September 4, 1931 in Sharon to the late Emmett “Ellsworth” and Lovida (Hogue) McClearn. He was a graduate of Stoneboro High School and went on to proudly serve his Country in the United States Army as a Military Policeman during the Korean Conflict. Fred owned and operated the Hardware store in Stoneboro for 10 years and was also the Maintenance Supervisor for Lakeview High School for 15 years. He owned and operated both the Stoneboro Quaker State for 23 years and the Stoneboro Carwash. He along with his wife and family loved camping at their campground along French Creek in Utica. He loved animals, especially dogs and cats, especially his wiener dog, Sally. Fred married his beloved wife, Harriett Elizabeth (Lewis) McClearn on December 15, 1951, she preceded him in death on January 2, 2016, having spent 64 years of marriage together. Fred is survived by his children, William R. “Billy” McClearn and wife Jody of Stoneboro, John S. McClearn and wife Jennifer of Sarasota, FL, and Vicki L. Montgomery and husband Larry of Sandy Lake; grandchildren, Mandy Anderson (Doug), Larry Montgomery, Jr. (Natalie), Melissa Moore (Ned), Tyler McClearn (Ashley), Michael McClearn (Lauren), Christopher McClearn (fiancé Jenna), and Tyler Spicer; great-grandchildren, Logan and Ryan Anderson, and Ella, Peyton, and Harper Moore. In addition to his wife and parents, Fred was preceded in death by an infant brother. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Stoneboro & Sandy Lake. Funeral services will be private. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Fred’s name to the Humane Society or Lakeview Meals on Wheels.
